The Tetragrammaton  =  hwhy = YaHuWaH

Introduction:  Z’kharYahuw prophesied in the days of Ezra at the time of the return of the Southern Kingdom of Yahuwdah from the Babylonian captivity. (Ezra 5:1) When the Jewish elders listened to his prophecies and Haggai’s, they prospered and were successful in completing the reconstruction of the Temple. (Ezra 6:14) Josephus notes that when they were being terrorized by enemies of this work, they were encouraged and cheered and, persuaded that the Persians were not truly a threat to their progress, they applied themselves earnestly to the task and did not stop for even one day. (Antiquities of the Jews 11.4.5) He was the head of the household of Iddo and was among the priests who presided over the celebration at its dedication. (NekhemYahuw 12:16) He wrote to those of Yahuwdah who were still in Babel (Babylon), but those of us who are in the Northern Kingdom are in a similar situation of exile in an extremely prosperous place that allows religious freedom and has great Biblical scholars, so they are for us as well. His prophecies have a constant flavor of victory for Yahrushalom and bespeak another day when again the city will be surrounded and infiltrated by enemies, but YaHuWaH will again prove triumphant. That day is coming soon, and this book is meant to encourage us to be strong and keep this hope alive in the forefront of our hearts as we do battle for the renewal of Yahrushalom as not just a political capital but a place truly Set-apart to YaHuWaH.

ZekharYahuw

1:1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Dareyawesh the Word of YaHuWaH  came to ZekharYahuw the son of BerekYahuw, the son of Iddow, the prophet, saying,  1:2 “YaHuWaH has been twig-splinteringly enraged with your fathers. 1:3 Therefore tell them: Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: ‘Return to Me,’ says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says YaHuWaH Master of Armies. 1:4 Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, ‘Return now from your evil (corrupt) ways, and from your evil doings;’ but they did not hear, nor heed Me, says YaHuWaH.

Master of Armies: He constantly uses this title for Himself throughout the book, and here it is repeated three times, showing its extreme seriousness. This is a military title, and its heavy usage warns the hearer to fear because those who go against this “supreme commander’s” wishes will get hurt. He has the power to enforce this authority. Evil: from a root meaning to be corrupt, because indeed these practices do “spoil” our relationship with Him.

1:5 Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? 1:6 But My Words and My Statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers?

“Then they repented and said, ‘Just as YaHuWaH Master of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so He has dealt with us.’”

1:7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat (Feb.), in the second year of Dareyawesh, the Word of YaHuWaH came to ZekharYahuw the son of BerekhYahuw, the son of Iddow, the prophet, saying, 1:8 “I had a vision in the night, and behold, a Man riding on a red horse, (Adam's horse) and He stood among the myrtle trees which gave shade; and behind him horses, red, speckled, and white. 1:9 Then I asked, ‘My Master, what are these?’”  The Messenger who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”

Red: without the vowel pointing, this says “Adam’s horse”. The root terms are the same, so together with this depiction of one in Adam’s position, the fact that in v. 11 he is called the “Malak YaHuWaH” (a specific title for the Mashiyach), and that what ZekarYahuw said had come to him (v. 7) was the “Word of YaHuWaH” (another title for the Mashiyach), and he calls Him his master (v. 9), we must surmise that this is YaHuWSHuWaH Himself speaking to ZekarYahuw about the restoration of Yahrushalom—a subject near and dear to His heart. (Mat. 23:37) The fact that ZekarYahuw had made the long trek to a hostile place for this purpose shows that he was a pure vessel fit for YaHuWaH to use for this purpose. Sorrel: literally, “fox-colored”, but from a root meaning “whistlingly red”—a color that would immediately grab the viewer’s attention. Compare Revelation 6:4.

1:10 The Man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “These are those whom YaHuWaH has sent to go to walk back and forth throughout the land (earth).”

Walk back and forth: Compare Iyob 1:7.

1:11 They reported to the Malak YaHuWaH Who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the land, and, lo and behold, all the land is resting quietly.”

1:12 Then the Malak YaHuWaH replied, “O YaHuWaH Master of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Yahrushalom and on the cities of Yahuwdah, against which You have had indignation these seventy years?”

1:13 YaHuWaH answered the Messenger who talked with me with kind and comforting words. 1:14 So the Messenger who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “I am jealous for Yahrushalom and for Tsiyown with a great jealousy. 1:15 I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for when I was little displeased,  they made the evil worse.” 1:16 Therefore thus says YaHuWaH : “I have returned to Yahrushalom with compassions. My House shall be built in it,” says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Yahrushalom.”’ (Rev. 11:1 & Yehezqel. 40:3)

Compassions: strong, passionate “gut” feelings. (See note on 2:17.)

1:17 “Proclaim further, saying, ‘Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and YaHuWaH will again comfort Tsiyown, and will again choose Yarushalom.”’”

1:18 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four horns. 1:19 I asked the Messenger who talked with me, “What are these?”

He answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered (1.) Yahuwdah, (2.) Ysra'al, and (3.) Yahrushalom.”

[The Middle East "Quartet" -- consists of the European Union, the United States, the United Nations and Russia. - four horns? -- horns (USA & Russia) and horns of the nations-- EU & the UN]

1:20 YaHuWaH showed me four engravers/craftsmen/carpenters.

Engravers: or possibly plowmen; the term means “one who cuts into”.

1:21 Then I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns which scattered Yahuwdah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these have come to terrify (rout) them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn (threatened it) against the land of Yahuwdah to scatter it.”

Scattered: or, sown. Rout: Heb., from the root kharad, a word-play on the term for engraver in v. 3, which is kharash. Lift up a horn: an idiom for threatening militarily. What has been is what will again take place (Qoheleth/Eccles. 1:9), so this prophecy, like all, has a secondary fulfillment that is yet to come.

2:1 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2:2 Then I asked, “Where are you going?”

He said to me, “To measure Yarushalom, to see what is its breadth and what is its length.” (Rev. 11:1-2 & Yehezqel. 40:3; Dan. 5:24-27) measure = judgment

2:3 Behold, the Messenger who talked with me went forth, and another Messenger went out to meet him, 2:4 and said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying, ‘Yahrushalom will be inhabited as villages without walls, (Rev. 20:9; Yehezqel 38:11-12) because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. 2:5 For I,’ says YaHuWaH, ‘will be to her a wall of fire around it, and I will be the Splendor in the midst of her. 2:6 -7 Up! Up! Flee from the land of the north,’ says YaHuWaH; ‘for I have scattered you abroad as the four winds of the sky,’ says YaHuWaH.

North: where the trade route from Babel entered Ysra'al, following the Fertile Crescent. It was often called the Land of the North for this reason, though it is technically east of Ysra'al. But the meaning of the Hebrew word for north (tsafon) really means a treasure hidden in a dark place. He has hidden His people among the nations, which are concerned with treasure and security. He tells us to flee from there.

‘Up, Tsiyown! Escape, you who dwell with the daughter of Babel.’ 2:8 For thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: ‘ In the way of Splendor He sent Me to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 2:9 For, behold, I will shake My Hand over them, and they will be a spoil to those who served them; and you will know that YaHuWaH Master of Armies has sent Me. 2:10-11 Sing and rejoice, daughter of Tsiyown; for, behold, I come, and I will settle [dwell] in the midst of you,’ says YaHuWaH.

Yahuwshuwah spoke often about Him being "sent" by the Father and that those who believe in Him would acknowledge and believe this fact.  He also stated that "If a man loves Me, he shall guard My Word. My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him, and make Our home in him. Yahuwchanan 14:23   Leviticus 23 tells us over and over that His appointments would be never-ending statutes wherever we may dwell. That term for “dwell” stems from the word used here for “settle” (or sit). When we are following His instructions regarding His set times, He can truly settle among His people who form His ruwachual dwelling place. (1 Kefa/Peter 2:5)

Many nations shall join themselves to YaHuWaH in That Day, and shall be My people; and I will settle in your innermost part, and you shall know that YaHuWaH Master of Armies has sent Me to you.  (Rev. 7:9-17)

This is the Mashiyach speaking, who will indeed establish His throne in Yahrushalom,  for He at the same time identifies Himself with and distinguishes Himself from YaHuWaH. Indeed, the king was the only one permitted to sit (settle) down in the Temple precinct, and the seat reserved for him was at the entrance to the innermost courtyard, close to the altar. A people: here, a collective term which relates directly to the restoration of what He removed from us in punishment. (Hos. 1:9, 10) This prophecy has never yet been fulfilled, though He restored the city of Yahrushalom once before.

2:12 YaHuWaH will inherit Yahuwdah as His portion in the Set-apart Land, and will again choose Yahrushalom. 2:13 Be silent, all flesh, before YaHuWaH; for He has roused Himself from His Set-apart habitation!”

Alternate reading: 17. “Keep silent, all flesh, because of the presence of YaHuWaH, because He has been aroused from His Set-apart place of marital cohabitation!”  He has selected Yahrushalom as His bride. (v. 16; Rev. 21:9-10) At last He will have her, and He hangs a “do not disturb” sign outside His private nuptial chamber; no one else is allowed in.

3:1 He showed me Yahuwshua the high priest standing before the Malak YaHuWaH, and Satan standing at his right hand in order to prosecute him. 3:2 YaHuWaH said to Satan, “YaHuWaH rebuke you, Satan! Yes, YaHuWaH Who has chosen Yahrushalom rebuke you! Isn’t this one a burning firebrand snatched out of the fire?”

The first YaHuWaH mentioned here is the Malak YaHuWaH, whom we have already seen is YaHuWSHuWaH. He also bears His Father’s Name within His own. Firebrand: from a root meaning “to rake together”. Snatched out: in the sense of rescuing.

3:3 Now Yahuwshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Messenger. 3:4 He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” To him He said, “Behold, I have caused your twisted-ness to pass away from being on you, and I will clothe you with garments rescued in war!.”

Yahuwshua ----יְהוֹשׁ֫וּעַ / יהושע = yod-heh-waw-shin-waw-ayin # 3091 - throughout the entire chapter.  Pronounced as Yah-hu-shua

Rescued in war: the root term means drawn out, taken off, saved, made strong, braced, equipped, and armed. It appears to be a reference to the garments of privilege and beauty won back from none other than this very same Adversary (see Y’hezqel/Ezek. 28:13-15) through the war fought by YaHuWSHuWaH when He plundered haSatan through His own death (by making haSatan legally a murderer and thus divested of any rights). Indeed, the high priest’s breastplate bears much resemblance to haSatan’s former vesture. (Compare Ex. 28:17ff and Rev. 21:19-20.)

3:5 And I said, “Let them set a clean turban on his head.”

So they set a clean turban on his head, and clothed him in garments while  the Malak YaHuWaH was standing by. 3:6 The Malak YaHuWaH admonished Yahuwshua, saying, 3:7 “Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: ‘If you will walk in My Ways, and if you will follow My instructions, then you also shall judge My House, and shall also keep My courts, and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.

3:8 Hear now, Yahuwshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you; because symbolic men they are: for, behold, I will bring forth My Servant, the Branch (Tsemech (צמח) - Al Zimach/Spica).

Symbolic: a sign or token of a wondrous display of YaHuWaH’s power that was yet to come. The Offshoot: one who would bear the Name YaHuWSHuWaH (6:12). The term can denote a new shoot that grows from the stump of a tree that was cut down, as the throne of Dawiyd was. (YirmeYahuw 22:30) YaHuWSHuWaH restored it after a 600-year gap. (Luke 1:32)

3:9 For, behold, the stone that I have set before Yahuwshua; on one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave its inscription,’ says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that Land in one Day. 3:10 In that Day,’ says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, ‘you will invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree.’”

[YashaYahuw 66:7 “Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she delivered a son. (This is referring to the birth of YaHuWSHuwaH .) 66:8 Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can the Land be made to give birth in one day? Can a nation be born in one step? For as soon as Tsiyown travailed, she brought forth her children. [during the tribulation?]

Under a fig tree: This is what YaHuWSHuWaH was referring to when He said He had seen Nathan’el under the fig tree (hence his astonished response in Yahuwchanan 1:48). He was saying that He had already seen him here in His Kingdom, where there is no guile. “Under one’s vine and under one’s fig tree” is also an idiom for dwelling in safety (1 Kings 4:25; compare MiykaYahuw 4:4, which is clearly in the context of the Mashiyahanic Kingdom), because both require peace time to tend properly, as they ripen at different times and need constant attention to keep the birds from eating them.

4:1 The Messenger who talked with me came again, and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. 4:2-3  He said to me, “What do you see?”

I said, “I have seen, and behold, a menorah all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven conduits to each of the seven lamps that are on top of it, and two olive trees over it, one on the right side of the bowl and one on its left. "

Seven conduits to each of the seven: the seven-times-seven pattern shows up in the seven weeks leading up to Shabuoth (Lev. 23:15) and the seven cycles of shmittah that lead up to the year of Yobel (Lev. 25:4, 10). Alt., simply, seven conduits to the seven lamps. Compare the seven congregations of YaHuWSHuWaH that are described as menoroth (Rev. 2, 3). The oil comes from these trees into the bowl, then through the conduits to the seven lamps. (v. 12)

4:4 I answered and spoke to the Messenger Who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my Master?”

4:5 Then the Messenger Who talked with me answered me, “Don’t you know what these are?”

I said, “No, my Master.”

4:6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, “This is the Word of YaHuWaH to Zerubbabel, and I quote:, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Ruwach,’ says YaHuWaH Master of Armies. 4:7 Who are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you are a plain; and he will bring out the capstone with shouts of ‘Favour, Favour, to her!’”

4:8 Moreover the Word of YaHuWaH came to me, saying, 4:9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this House. His hands shall also finish it; and you will know that YaHuWaH Master of Armies has sent Me to you.

Zerub-babel: the immediate reference is to a particular man who led in this venture, but his name meanssown in Babel”, and that is the condition of all who are returning to our identity as the scattered House of Ysra'al—born outside His Land and within the system that rules the rest of the world. We are being called back out of Babylon (Rev. 18:4) to be His Set-apart people again. This is how “Zerubbabel” will complete the task of building a proper dwelling place for YaHuWaH.

4:10 Indeed, who despises the day of small things? These seven (lamps) rejoice when they see the plummet stone in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of YaHuWaH, which dilegently search throughout the whole earth.”

Plummet stone: literally, stone of tin alloy, from a root word meaning separation or making a distinction. Again, judgment is being taken up and justice is finally brought about.

4:11 Then I responded by saying to Him, “What are these two olive trees on the right side of the menorah and on the left side of it?”

Him: The antecedent is the Word of YaHuWaH in v. 8. Thus again, this is YaHuWSHuWaH Himself speaking.

4:12 I asked Him the second time, “What are these two olive branches, which empty golden oil from themselves by means of the gold pipes?” (branches = branch/ear of grain)

4:13 He answered me, “Don’t you know what these are?” I said, “No, my Master.”

4:14 Then he said, “These are the two anointed ones who stand beside the Master of the whole earth.”

[Alternate reading: So He said, “These are the two sons of fresh oil who are standing over The Master of the whole earth.” The Master of the whole earth: a poetic parallel for YaHuWaH’s Name in Micha 4:13]

5:1 Then again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, a flying scroll.

5:2 He said to me, “What do you see?”  I answered, “I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits, and its breadth ten cubits.”

These are the exact dimensions of the Qodesh Place, the first room the priests entered in the Tabernacle. So this is something that correlates to that room. This is the room that was opened up when the veil in front of the Hekal was torn at YaHuWSHuWaH’s death. (Luke 23:45) So there is open access to that room. However, the dimensions of the Most Set-apart Place, where YaHuWaH’s presence dwelt, are excluded. So what it represents will have part of YaHuWaH’s truth, but be lacking the most intimate aspects of His presence (His Name). ["The Holy Bible" ??? of the deceitful scribes!]

5:3 Then he said to me, “This is the curse (Allah) that goes out over the surface of the whole earth: 'From this time forth, anyone who steals will be unpunished; and according to it 'from this time forth, anyone who swears an oath will be unpunished.'

[Bible in Basic English Then he said to me, This is the curse which goes out over the face of all the land: for long enough has every thief gone without punishment, and long enough has every taker of false oaths gone without punishment.]

The whole earth: This gives us another clue as to what it is—something that claims to be universal. This is what the term “catholic” means. And going unpunished (alt., purged or cleaned out)—this is the message of "grace". But why is this a curse? Because it is so profaned by being offered to those who know nothing about set-apartness, and is distorted to the point of making people think that they can do whatever they want, then say, “I’m sorry” on their deathbed, and that all would be well for them in the hereafter. This is a curse to the rest of society, which will suffer from their unpunished crimes, because there will be no logical deterrent to sinning. This goes against the Torah. YaHuWSHuWaH brought an amnesty for those who would return to the Covenant, and He knows we cannot do everything perfectly while in exile, but that is the purpose of favor; it is not intended to let everyone go scot-free so that they can return to their own selfish ways.  Compare the laws regarding house-leprosy in Lev. 14:34ff. This extreme grace will ruin any household. It also “tears down the Temple” again by opposing its rebuilding, which was ZekarYahuw’s task. This parody of YaHuWaH’s true "grace" is still all done in His Name, and steals away the appointed times He set.

5:4 I will cause it to go out,” says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, “and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by My Name; and it will remain in the midst of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones.”

5:5 Then the Messenger Who talked with me came forward, and said to me, “Lift up now your eyes, and see what is this that is appearing.”

5:6 I said, “What is it?”

He said, “This is the efah-measure that is appearing.” He said moreover, “This is their eye throughout the whole earth (Aramaic:This is an ephah that goes forth, and in it are the transgressions of the whole earth.)

Their eye: or, wellspring, the fountain from which a counterfeit “truth” flows. Ephah: a dry measure equivalent to ten omers (Ex. 16:36). Since an omer is the amount needed to feed one man for one day (16:16), it represents one man. Ten men represents a minyan (quorum), and thus symbolizes a complete congregation. So this measuring basket represents a congregation just as the flying scroll did, focusing us even more clearly to the conclusion that this whole chapter is speaking about the Church as the counterfeit tabernacle, overemphasizing YaHuWaH’s favor and underemphasizing the pureness YaHuWaH requires where His presence is to dwell. To a lesser degree it also represents rabbinic Judaism, another twisting of the Torah for the purposes of convenience and a lust for power (originally).

5:7 And, lo and behold, a [whirling] round-talent-weight of lead was lifted off,  and this singular/unified-woman was sitting inside the the efah basket.”

Round talent-weight: all one term in Hebrew. In the context of the flying scroll, it probably represents the winged sun-disk so common as a pagan symbol, the spirit of which the Church adopted by emphasizing the “day of the Sun”.  Singular: or unified "woman" depicting the "great whore" of Babel. But YaHuWaH is building a unified man. (Eph. 2:15)

5:8 He said, “This is the Lawlessness;” and he flung it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the leaden stone weight into its mouth.

The Lawlessness: a “secret” which is held back at present, but will not always be. (2 Thess. 2:7) But when it is released, it will be judged.

5:9 Then lifted I up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there were two women, and the wind was in their wings. (for they had wings like the wings of a stork), and they lifted up the efah-measure between earth and the sky. (two women - Catholicism & Protestantism ??   or Yahuwdah and Ephraiym/Ysra'al ??)

5:10 Then said I to the Messenger who talked with me, “Where are these carrying the efah-measure?”

5:11 He said to me, “To build it a house in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, it will be set there in its base.”

[where Tower of Babel was built - the territory of the King of the North and "the beast?" ... ie, Lawlessness will be "based" there!][ It is also possible that "Shinar" is modern day Babel [the "base" being the USA"] from which so much evil originates and is sewn into all the world ... Rev. 17 & 18.]

6:1 Again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of bronze.(3rd kingdom (yawan) of Dan. 2 - broken into 4 divisions-finally into N and S.?) 6:2 In the first chariot were red horses; in the second chariot black horses; 6:3 in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot dappled horses, all of them powerful. 6:4 Then I asked the Messenger who talked with me, “What are these, my Master?”

(mountains = kingdoms - great powers)

6:5 The Messenger answered me, “These are the four Winds (Ruwach) of the sky, which go forth from standing before the Master of the whole earth. 6:6 The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the spotted ones went forth toward the south country.” 6:7 But the dappled ones were asking to depart so that they might walk back and forth through the earth: and He said, “Go around and through the earth!” So they walked back and forth through the earth. [The four horsemen of Rev. - Seals 1-4 ?]

(From the NIV:  5 The Messenger answered me, "These are the four Ruwachs/Winds of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Master of the whole world. 6 The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horses toward the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south." (thus by default, the red goes toward the east.)

Rev.7:1 After this, I saw four Messengers standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on earth, or sea, or against any tree,. 7:2 I saw another Messenger ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living Aluahiym. He cried with a loud voice to the four Messengers who had been given power damage (destroy) earth and sea. (Trumpets 1-4), 7:3 saying, “Do not damage the earth, or the sea, or the trees, until we have sealed the slaves of our Aluheinu upon their foreheads!”

6:8 Then He called to me, and spoke to me, saying, “Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted My Ruwach in the north country.”

6:9 The Word of YaHuWaH  came to me, saying, 6:10 “Take up [a collection]  from the captivity, even of Chelday, of TowbiYahuw, and of YedaYahuw; and come the same day, and go into the house of Yo'shiYahuw the son of TsephanYahuw, where they have come from Babel. 6:11 Yes, take silver and gold, and make diadems/crowns, and set them on the head of Yahuwshuwa (yah-hu-shoo-ah)  the son of Yahuwtsadaq, the high priest;

(in the Hebrew it has - yod-heh-waw-shin-waw-ayin [Yahuwshua ----יְהוֹשׁ֫וּעַ / יהושע = yod-heh-waw-shin-waw-ayin # 3091 - throughout the entire chapter.  Pronounced as Yah-hu-shua] also - יהושע = YaHuWaH is Salvation)

Note the plurality of diadems/crowns; YaHuWSHuWaH is seen wearing “many diadems/crowns” as in Rev. 19:12. Take up: The exiles are not only those who crown Him their king; they themselves will also be taken up and form a crown for YaHuWSHuWaH as well. (See YashaYahuw 18:7; compare Tz’fanyah 3:10.) Silver represents redemption by blood, and gold represents the highest quality.

…And you, take silver and gold and make crowns, and put them on the head of YaHuWSHuWaH, the son of Yahuwtsadaq [the Righteousness of Yahuw], the high priest: And you tell this to him, saying: “This says YaHuWaH of hosts:” saying: “Here is a man, his name is of the Branch, and He [the Branch] will branch out from His depths and He will build the temple of YaHuWaH: and He will build the temple of YaHuWaH, and He [the Branch] will lift up MAJESTY, and He [Majesty] will sit and He will rule upon His throne, and He [the Branch] will be Priest beside His throne, and the advice of peace shall be between the Two of Them. [Pure]

6:12-13 and speak to him, saying, ‘Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, Behold the Man whose Name is the BRANCH (Tsemech (צמח) - Al Zimach)!

Behold the man: The same phrase Pontius Pilatus used when referring to YaHuWSHuWaH (Yahuwchanan 19:5), who was also wearing a “crown” at that time with a sign revealing His kingship soon thereafter posted above his head. To those who knew prophecy, this scenario would bring this very passage to mind. We are told in 3:8 that this Yahushua is a symbol of YaHuWaH’s Servant (a specific title for the Messianic King in YashaYahuw 52:13) who is there called the Offshoot, as throughout the rest of Scripture he turns out to be in some special way an extension of YaHuWaH Himself.  Now we are told that Yahuwshua’s name is “BRANCH/Offshoot”. He is also called a SERVANT and a MAN, and will be a PRIEST and a KING. … and His Name is YaHuWaH our righteousness - thus YaHuWaH, Himself !!!!

From His place He shall branch out and He shall build the Hekal of YaHuWaH;  even He shall build the Hekal of YaHuWaH; and He shall bear the splendor, and shall sit and rule on His throne; and He shall be a Priest [while] on His throne; and the counsel of shalom shall be between the two of Them.

Ephesians 2:20-22 We are His House, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is haMashiyach YaHuWShuWaH  Himself. We who believe are carefully joined together, becoming a Set-apart Dwelling Place for the Master. Through Him you Gentiles are also joined together as part of this Dwelling Place where YaHuWaH lives by His Ruwach haQadosh. [1 Kepha (Peter) 2:5 "You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a Set-apart priesthood, to offer up spiritual slaughters, acceptable to YaHuWaH through YaHuWShuWaH haMashiyach"]   1 Corinthians 3:9  We work together as partners who belong to YaHuWaH. You are YaHuWaH's field, YaHuWaH's building--not ours. ..... 16  Don't you realize that all of you together are the Dwelling Place of YaHuWaH and that the Ruwach of YaHuWaH lives in you? YaHuWaH will bring ruin upon anyone who ruins this Dwelling Place. For YaHuWaH's Dwelling Place is Set-apart, and you believers are that Dwelling Place.

A priest while on His throne: an abnormal situation in Ysra'al, where the division between these two offices is clear since they are from different tribes. (2 Chron. 26:18) Melchitzedeq and YaHuWSHuWaH are the only ones that legally hold both posts. Counsel: exchange of counsel, purpose, even conspiring. In other words, the proper, most healthy balance of earthly rule and relationship with Heaven will at last be achieved as a result of His holding both of these positions in the Kingdom. Compare Y’hezq’El 45:17; 46:4, where we see the Prince responsible for offering offerings in the Temple. So YaHuWSHuWaH, Who in one sense superseded the slaughtering system (Heb. 9:11 et al), will be the very One to restore it.

6:14 The crowns shall be to Chelem, and to TowbiYahuw, and to YedaYahuw, and to Chen the son of TsephanYahuw, for a memorial (a shadow picture) in the Hekal of YaHuWaH.  Those who are far off shall come and build in the Hekal of YaHuWaH; and you shall know that YaHuWaH Master of Armies has sent Me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey the Voice of YaHuWaH your Aluah.”’”

7:1 It happened in the fourth year of sovereign Dareyawesh that the Word of YaHuWaH came to ZekharYahuw in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Kislew. 7:2 The people of Bayith'al sent Shar'etser and Regem Melech, and their men, to entreat YaHuWaH’s favor, 7:3 and to speak to the priests of the House of YaHuWaH Master of Armies, and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, and fast, as I have done these so many years?”

Fifth month: a reference to the traditional “Tesha’ b’Ab” fast on the day when the Temple was destroyed. (The wall of the Temple Mount would again be breached on this date when the Romans came against it, and the Temple burned the next day.) This fast had not been ordered by YaHuWaH, and now that the Temple was being rebuilt, they wondered whether it was still meaningful, or whether it might even be an affront in light of YaHuWaH’s intervention.

7:4 Then the Word of YaHuWaH Master of Armies came to me, saying, 7:5 “Speak to all the people of the Land, and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to Me, really to Me?

Fast of the seventh month: not Yom Kippur (which YaHuWaH does not change), but the fast of Gedalyah, the Jewish governor under the Babylonians who was assassinated by his fellow Jews in the seventh month. (2 Kings 25:25)

7:6 When you eat, and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? 7:7 Aren’t these the words which YaHuWaH proclaimed by the former prophets, when Yahrushalom was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?’”

7:8 The Word of YaHuWaH came to ZekharYahuw, saying, 7:9 “Thus has YaHuWaH Master of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. 7:10 Don’t oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.’ (This shows what is truly important to YaHuWaH!) 7:11 But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.  7:12 Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the Torah, and the Words which YaHuWaH Master of Armies had sent by His Ruwach by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from YaHuWaH Master of Armies. 7:13 It has come to pass that, as He called, and they refused to listen, so they will call, and I will not listen,” said YaHuWaH Master of Armies; 7:14 “and I scattered them with a storm wind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they made the pleasant land desolate.” Leviticus 26:31-35 predicted this; now it is stated as a historical fact.

8:1 The Word of YaHuWaH Master of Armies came to me. 8:2 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “I shall be jealous for Tsiyown with great jealousy,  with great wrath I shall be jealous for her.”

8:3 Thus says YaHuWaH : “I shall return to Tsiyown, and will dwell in the midst of Yahrushalom. Yahrushalom shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the Mountain of YaHuWaH Master of Armies, ‘The Set-apart Mountain.’”

8:4 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Yahrushalom, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

8:5 The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.”

8:6 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “If this thing is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in My sight?" says YaHuWaH Master of Armies.

8:7 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “Behold, I will save My people from the east country, and from the west country;

8:8 and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Yahrushalom; and they will be My people, and I will be their Aluahiym, in truth and in righteousness.”

8:9 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the House of YaHuWaH Master of Armies was laid, even the Hekal, that it might be built.

8:10 For before those days there was no wages for mankind (the Adam), nor any wages for the beast; neither was there any shalom to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

8:11 But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days,” says YaHuWaH Master of Armies.

8:12 “For the seed of shalom and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

8:13 It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse (Allah) among the nations, House of Yahuwdah and House of Ysra'al, so will I deliver you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

8:14 For thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,” says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, “and I didn’t relent;

8:15 so again have I thought in these days to do good to Yahrushalom and to the House of Yahuwdah. Don’t be afraid.

8:16 These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and shalom in your gates,

8:17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate,” says YaHuWaH .

[and from verse 7:9-10 ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother. Don’t oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.’ ](This shows what is truly important to YaHuWaH!)

8:18 The Word of YaHuWaH Master of Armies came to me.

8:19 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the House of Yahuwdah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and shalom.”

The fast of the fourth month: when the famine was most severe and the wall of Yahrushalom had been breached by the Babylonians. (2 Kings 25:3-4) The fast of the tenth: when Nebukhadnetzar had begun this same siege of Yahrushalom (25:1). For each of these, there will apparently be a tikkun (an event that brings reparation for the particular damage done on that specific date) of such profound impact that there will be a new festival celebrated regularly for each.

8:20 Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “Many peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come;

8:21 and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of YaHuWaH, and to seek YaHuWaH Master of Armies. I will go also.’

8:22-23 Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek YaHuWaH Master of Armies in Yahrushalom, and to entreat the Face of YaHuWaH.”

The face of YaHuWaH: mirrored in YaHuWSHuWaH as the moon reflects the sun (2 Cor. 4:6 For Aluahiym, Who said, "Let there be Light in the darkness," has made us understand that this Light is the Brightness of the Splendor of YaHuWaH that is seen in the Face of YaHuWSHuWaH the Anointed.; Yochanan 1:18  No one has ever seen YaHuWaH; but the only-begotten Son, Who is within the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known.) ---the only way we can see His Face and survive is thru YaHuWSHuWaH. (Ex. 33:20)

Thus says YaHuWaH Master of Armies: “In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt (fringe/tassel) of him who is a Yahuwdim, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that Al is with you.’”

9:1 An oracle.

The Word of YaHuWaH is against the land of Chadrach,

and will rest upon Dammeseq; (for the eyes of men and of all the tribes of Ysra'al is toward YaHuWaH;)

9:2 and Chamath (which borders on it;) Tsor and Tsiydown, because they are very wise.

9:3 Tsor built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like the dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets.

9:4 Behold, YaHuWaH will dispossess her, and He will strike her power in the sea; and she will be devoured with fire.

Though Tsor was conquered on numerous occasions (most notably by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C.E.) and revived after each conqueror’s decline, there was no recorded destruction during the time frame of this writing (just before 500 B.C.E.). This is sandwiched between references to the dawning of the Millennial Kingdom of Mashiyach, so it should be read as relating to that time.

9:5 Ashqelown will see it, and fear; 'Azzah also, and will writhe in agony; as will Eqrown, for her expectation will be disappointed; and the sovereign will perish from 'Azzah, and Ashqelown will not be inhabited.

9:6 An alien ruler (half-breed) will sit in Ashdowd, and I will cut off the pride of the Pelishtiym.

9:7 I will remove his bloods out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he also will be a remnant for our Aluah; and he will be as a chieftain in Yahuwdah, and Eqrown as a Yebuwsiy.

9:8 I will encamp around My House against the army, that none pass through or return; and no oppressor will pass through them any more: or now I have seen with My eyes.

9:9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Tsiyown!

Shout, daughter of Yahrushalom!

Behold, your Sovereign comes to you!

He is righteous, and having deliverance;

lowly, and riding on a donkey,

even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

On a donkey: as opposed to a horse. This indicates that His chief purpose is to serve those He rules, not show off His royal esteem. (Luke 22:25) Both Yahuwdah (Gen. 49:11) and Efrayim (Hos. 8) are both described as donkeys in Scripture.

9:10 I will cut off the vehicle (chariot) from Ephrayim,

and the horse from Yahrushalom;

and the bow of war will be cut off; (Rev. 6:1)

and He will speak shalom to the nations:

and His dominion will be from sea to sea,

and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Chariot…horse: what all other nations depend on, but what Ysra'al is not to rely on. But modern Ysra'al does depend on another nation’s power, and so is a vassal state still. The United States has taken control of Babylon’s palaces (in Iraq), and so the scepter of ancient Babylon has passed to it, so the references to Ashshuwr (whose scepter Babylon/Babel took over) and Babylon in this passage may relate to this present “Babylon” in which much of Ysra'al is still exiled. River: the Perath (Euphrates): these are the borders YaHuWaH promised to Abraham (Gen. 15:18).

9:11 As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant,

I have set free your prisoners from the cistern in which is no water.

You: the pronoun is feminine in Hebrew. Cistern in which there is no water: hewn out of their own doing (YirmeYahuw 2:13).

9:12 Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope!

Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

9:13 For indeed I bend Yahuwdah as a bow for Me.

I have filled the bow with Ephrayim; and I will stir up your sons, Tsiyown, against your sons, Yawan, and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.

Yavan: Greece. The two sons of Tsiyown, Yahuwdah and Efrayim, together will defeat the Greek ways that so permeate the financial, political, and religious systems of global society today. [Two Witnesses?]

9:14 YaHuWaH will be seen over them; and His arrow will go forth like lightning; and the Sovereign YaHuWaH will blow the shofar,   [YeshaYahuw 27:12-13  & Matt. 24:31] and will go with whirlwinds of the south.

9:15 YaHuWaH Master of Armies will bring about a covering over them that will surround and defend them; and they will destroy and overcome the sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the prominent parts of the altar.

Sling stones: What the enemy intended to use against Ysra'al, YaHuWaH will make part of Ysra'al’s captured arsenal. Prominent parts of the altar: where wine was indeed poured with water on the last day of Sukkoth during the water-pouring ceremony during which YaHuWSHuWaH stood up and invited all who thirst to come to Him for living water. The covering can be a reference to Yom Kippur, and the shofar in the previous verse alludes to Yom T’ruah (Rosh haShanah). All three of these festivals foreshadow the latter days, so these allusions reemphasize the time in history this prophecy refers to.

YashaYahuw 27:12 It shall happen in that Day, that YaHuWaH shall thresh from the flowing stream of the Perath to the brook of Mitsrayim; and you shall be gathered one by one, children of Ysra'al. 27:13 It shall happen in that Day that a Great Shofar shall be blown (Day of Atonement); and those who were ready to perish in the land of Ashshuwr, and those who were outcasts in the land of Mitsrayim, shall come; and they shall worship YaHuWaH in the qodesh Mountain at Yarushalom.

Matt. 24:31 He shall send out His Messengers with the sound of the Great Shofar [Day of Atonement], and they shall gather together His chosen ones from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

[YashaYahuw 11:12 He shall set up a Banner [Mashiyach] for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Ysra'al, and gather together the dispersed of Yahuwdah from the four corners of the earth]

9:16 YaHuWaH their Aluah will save them in that day as the flock of His people; for they are like the jewels of a crown, lifted like a banner over His Land.

9:17 For how great is its goodness, and how great is its beauty!

For how pleasant and beautiful is the young men's grain, and fresh wine will make the virgins blossom!

(Mal'akiy 3:16-18 Then those who feared YaHuWaH spoke one with another; and YaHuWaH listened, and heard them, and a book of remembrance (Sefer Zikarone) was written before Him, for those who feared YaHuWaH, and who think on His Name.  They shall be Mine,” says YaHuWaH of Armies, “My own possession on the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.

Then you shall again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves Aluahiym and him who does not serve Him.)

10:1 Ask rain of YaHuWaH at the season of latter rains; YaHuWaH Who makes storm clouds, and He gives rain showers to everyone for the plants (His people) in the field (world).

Latter rains: related to the word for gathering in, so they are the rains that come in the late spring to bring the crops to maturity.

10:2 For the learned men have spoken iniquity, and the diviners have seen a lie; and they have told false dreams. They comfort in vain. Therefore they go their way like [dumb/weakened] sheep. They are weakened, because there is no shepherd.

10:3 My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the male goats; For YaHuWaH Master of Armies has visited His flock, the House of Yahuwdah, and will make them as His majestic horse in the battle.

In this transition from the context of livestock to one of military terminology, the middle clauses have a double meaning, and could also read, “…and I have been passing the chiefs in review, because YaHuWaH [Commander] of Armies has mustered His ranks…” There was no true shepherd, because those posing as leaders kept YaHuWaH’s congregations docile by mishandling and browbeating them until they were like dumb sheep (the meaning of “weakened” in v. 2), He is searching out those He misses and making them disciplined (additional meanings of the word for “mustered” or “passed in review”), so those once under the “opiate of the masses” will surprise their oppressors by being strong after all once He has trained them to be the troops He sometimes needs them to be. (Compare YirmeYahuw 50:6; Y’hezq’al/Ezek. 34.) Alt., I have punished the he-goats—contrasted with sheep in Mat. 25, as they tend to go their own way rather than huddling together as a close community

10:4 From them will come forth the cornerstone from them the [tent] peg, from them the battle-bow, from them every ruler together.

10:5 They shall be as mighty men, treading down muddy streets in the battle; and they shall fight, because YaHuWaH is with them; and the riders on horses will be confounded.

I.e., they will have the vigor to outrun them as EliYahuw did King Ahab’s chariots. (1 Kings 18:44-46

10:6 “I will strengthen the House of Yahuwdah, and I will save the House of Yowseph, and I will bring them back; or I will have mercy on them; and they will be as though I had not cast them off: for I AM YaHuWaH their Aluah, and I will hear them.

As though: We will pick up where our ancestors left off, and in retrospect it will be as if we had never skipped a beat.

10:7 Ephrayim will be like a mighty man, and their heart will rejoice as through wine;

yes, their children will see it, and rejoice. Their heart will be glad in YaHuWaH .

10:8 I will whistle for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them; and they will increase as they have increased.

10:9 I will sow them among the peoples; and they will remember Me in far countries; and they will survive (be revived) along with their children, and will return.

Survive: or, be revived (restored to life or health). I.e., those who are hearing YaHuWaH’s call to come back to being Ysra'alites after being Gentiles for so many generations, not just their children, will have the strength to participate in the restored Kingdom in the Land, as Kaleb was as able at eighty to enjoy his inheritance after his whole generation had died off, because he had confidence in YaHuWaH

10:10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Mitsrayim, and gather them out of Ashshuwr and I will bring them into the land of Gil'ad and Lebanown; and there won’t be room enough for them.

10:11 He will pass through the sea of affliction, and will strike the waves in the sea, and all the depths of the river will dry up; and the pride of Ashshuwr will be brought down, and the scepter of Mitsrayim will depart.

Alternate reading: 11. “So the strait in the sea will pass away, and He will beat back [and subdue] the waves of the sea, and all the [sunken] depths of the [Nile] River will dry up, and the raised parts of Ashur will be lowered, and the part of Mitsrayim that branches off will retract [and move over] SWHofY. (This is how more room will be provided!)

10:12 I will make them strong in YaHuWaH; and they will walk up and down in His Name,” says YaHuWaH.

(And I will strengthen them in YaHuWaH; and they shall preach the good tidings of His Name, says YaHuWaH." Aramaic)

11:1 Open your doors, Lebanown, that the fire may devour your cedars.

11:2 Wail, O cypress, for the cedar has fallen, because the stately ones are destroyed.

Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the strong forest has come down.

11:3 A voice of the wailing of the shepherds! (the trees mentioned above)

For their magnificent cloak is destroyed: a voice of the roaring of young lions! For the pride of the Yarden is ruined. Magnificent cloak: They have been known as “men of the cloth”!

11:4 Thus says YaHuWaH my Aluah: “Feed the lean flock of slaughter.

11:5 Their buyers slaughter them, and feel no guilt. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be YaHuWaH, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.

11:6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the Land,” says YaHuWaH; “but, behold, I will deliver the men everyone into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his king. They will divide the Land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.”

11:7 So I will shepherd the flock meant for the slaughter, the truly poor of the flock. I took for Myself two staffs. The one I called “Pleasantness/Favor,” and the other I called “Cord/The One that Binds/Union,” and I Myself will lead the flock to pasture!

11:8 I will annihilate three shepherds in one month; for My being was weary of them, and they howled against Me.

Annihilate: efface, conceal, or destroy. It can have the sense of firing or sending someone off, and this may be how ZekarYahuw acted out the picture. These three shepherds may even be a prophecy of the demise of the doctrine of the trinity, which, though misconstrued from some passages, does not stand up to the overall tone of Scripture, being the last vestige of polytheism that survives where the Aluahiym of Ysra'al is known.

11:9 Then I said, “I will not shepherd you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh [their version of the "gospel"].”

11:10 I took my staff Favor/Pleasantness, and chopped it in two, that I might break My Covenant that I cut with all the peoples.

YaHuWaH therefore no longer has covenant with any nation but Ysra'al. In context, this also symbolizes the end of YaHuWaH’s relationship of any sort with the Church, which is made up of people from all nations. Any last illusion of protection outside the fold of Ysra'al is removed. They have to recognize that they are actually Ysra'al if they are His, in order to retain covenant with Him and benefit from the blessing to all the families of the earth that was promised to Abraham’s seed. (Gen. 22:18) The Renewed Covenant, as well, is made with the House of Ysra'al and the House of Yahuwdah. (YirmeYahuw 31:31)

11:11 It was broken in That Day; and thus the meek of the flock that were watching Me knew that it was the Word of YaHuWaH.

11:12  And He said to them, “If you think it best, give me my wages; and if not, keep them.” So they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

This is also the price the owner of an ox that gores someone else’s slave is responsible to pay his master. (Ex. 21:32) Thus it is the price of a servant—the very title of Mashiyach (YashaYahuw 52:13). And indeed thirty pieces of silver is the exact price paid to Yehuwdah for his betrayal of YaHuWSHuWaH. (Mat. 27)

11:13 YaHuWaH said to me, “Throw it to the potter, (the magnificent value at which I was appraised by them !”) I took the thirty pieces of silver, and threw them to the potter, in the House of YaHuWaH.

Alternate reading: [“And He [YaHuWaH] said to them: “Give My price, what seems good in your sight; but if not, keep it!”  So they gave My price: thirty silver pieces.  And YaHuWaH said to me: “Throw it to the potter, the amount of the price which I was valued at from them.”]  So I took the thirty silver pieces (the bounty-price of Him Who was revered, Whom they assessed of the sons of Ysra'al), And I threw it in the House of YaHuWaH for the lot of the potter, according as YaHuWaH directed me.”  [ZekharYahuw 11: 12-13 Pure S.]

11:14 Then I chopped in two My other staff, even The One that Binds/Union, that I might break the brotherhood between Yahuwdah and Ysra'al.

Though at this point Ysra'al as a nation had been gone for 200 years, it is still fresh in mind for YaHuWaH. He will not talk about Yahuwdah’s welfare without that of his brother, for until Ysra'al (the lost tribes of the Northern Kingdom) is back as well, there can be no Kingdom, for both houses of Ysra'al must together enthrone the same Shepherd Who will reign in David’s line. (Y’hezq’al 34:23; 37:22-25) Then the two sticks will be joined back together into one. (Y’hezq’El 37:16-19)

11:15 YaHuWaH said to me, “Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.

11:16 For, behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who will not visit those who are cut off, neither will seek those who are scattered, nor heal that which is broken, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat sheep, and will tear their hoofs in pieces.

This is the Counterfeit Mashiyach, who has had many predecessors in Antiochus IV, Herod, Aqiva, and Constantine. Those who wait just a little longer will be given the real remedy for their lack of a shepherd. (Gen. 49:17-18)

11:17 Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock! A sword against his forearm, and against his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will completely fail!”   [ Woe to you, O foolish shepherd, for you have left the flock neglected on your side and before your eyes! Let your right arm be withered and your right eye be blinded." Aramaic]

[Withered arm may refer to his eventual loss of power and blind eye may refer to his inability to foresee his own demise.]

12:1 An oracle. The word of YaHuWaH concerning Ysra'al. YaHuWaH, Who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the ruwach of man within him says: (Olam She'avar - The World That Was)

12:2 “Behold, I will make Yahrushalom a cup of reeling to all the peoples surrounding it, when they are entrenched for a siege against both Yahuwdah and Yahrushalom!

12:3 It will happen in That Day, that I will make Yahrushalom a burdensome stone for all the peoples. All who burden themselves with it will be severely wounded, and all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against her.

12:4 In that Day,” says YaHuWaH , “I will strike every horse with terror, and his rider with madness; and I will open My eyes on the House of Yahuwdah, but will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.

In a mere moment YaHuWaH can remove the threat from any army, however massive. (2 Kings 6:14ff; compare Gen. 19:11.)

12:5 The chieftains of Yahuwdah will say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Yahrushalom are a strength to me through YaHuWaH Master of Armies their Aluahiym.’

12:6 In that Day I will make the chieftains of Yahuwdah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves [the flaming torch and smoking oven of Abraham!]; and they will devour all the surrounding peoples, on the right hand and on the left; and Yahrushalom shall dwell again in her  place - in Yahrushalom.

In her place: literally, under herself—a probable allusion to the fact of the heavenly and earthly Yahrushalom's corresponding exactly to one another. Eden hovers directly above this place where the stairway descended for Ya'aqob (Gen. 28). The misalignment of the two since Adam fell, or at least since the Temple was destroyed, is due to the incongruities between the two, which will vanish as the ancient foundations are rediscovered and it is rebuilt exactly where it was.

12:7 YaHuWaH also will save the tents of Yahuwdah first, that the splendor of the House of Dawiyd and the splendor of the inhabitants of Yahrushalom not be magnified above Yahuwdah.

Tents of Yahuwdah first: this is the order in which Ysra'al was always to pitch or break camp. (Num. 2:3) But tents are also an idiom for places of learning. So it appears that it will be the Torah scholars who will be saved before the majority of the Jewish population in the Land, and this is only just because many of the rest are secular and are not paying YaHuWaH much attention, while many of the scholars truly are.

12:8 In that day YaHuWaH will defend the inhabitants of Yahrushalom. He who is feeble among them at that Day will be like Dawiyd, and the House of Dawiyd will be like Aluahiym, like the Malak YaHuWaH before them.

The House of David includes the Mashiyach, Who is indeed “like Aluahiym” (the very status Adam had been offered the wrong way to achieve but which YaHuWSHuWaH achieved the right way), and whose title often is “the Malak YaHuWaH”.

12:9 It will happen in That Day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Yahrushalom.

12:10 I will pour on the House of Dawiyd, and on the inhabitants of Yahrushalom, the ruwach of acceptance/favour and of supplication [begging for favor]; and they will look on Me, Aleph wTaw, Whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for His only Son, and will grieve bitterly for Him, as one grieves over His Firstborn. (Me is YaHuWaH .... Him is YaHuWSHuWaH)

Zech. 12:10 ... the Piercing of YaHuWaH ...... I will pour out on the house of Dawiyd and on the inhabitants of Yahrushalom, the Ruwach of favor and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced (et asher dakaru-- wrqd rsa ta); and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only (yachid--dyxy) son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.     The first thing to notice is that the direct object pointer a-t (aleph-taw) is meant to show what part of the sentence receives action.  In this case, the part that receives the action is YaHuWaH, Who is Himself pierced!  This fact though raises an uncomfortable question: Since YaHuWaH is Ruwach, how can He be pierced?  The answer is a few words later in the same verse.  The phrase "only son" is dyxy, and it is an exclusive singularity, meaning that only the Mashiyach has an occurrence of YaHuWaH's nature, as opposed to a separate Mighty-like nature, which would be idolatry. And so, dyxy guarantees that Mashiyach is the only human who has had, or ever will have, an Occurrence of the one Mighty-like nature living separately, and yet side by side, in His own human nature.  You don't have to go to the Gospels then to get the truth of this matter. Furthermore, the Ruwach of YaHuWaH is said to rest upon Mashiyach (Yasha. 11:1-2), and so if the flesh of the man containing YaHuWaH's Ruwach is pierced, then metaphorically speaking so is YaHuWaH pierced.  Therefore, in ZecharYahuw's case, the placement of a-t (aleph-taw)leaves no doubt whatsoever that it is YaHuWaH receiving the action of piercing, and yet they mourn for Him (Mashiyach) as an only Son!  That fact alone clearly proves that YaHuWaH is somehow pierced and yet He does not die, but it also shows that His son does!  But then, if the Son can die, how is He "equal" with YaHuWaH Who can never die? The answer is in understanding the difference between "equal" in Aramaic and English.  When we say "equal" we mean a sense of equivalence, such as 2 +2 = 4.  However, to say "equal with Aluahiym" in this context does not mean identical but rather "of the same substance as Aluahiym". What's the difference?  Well, water and ice are the same substance but are they identical?  Does each one act or is able to do the exact same things as the other two?   In the same way, Mashiyach is made up of the same "Mighty-like stuff" as YaHuWaH, but is given a subservient function by the very nature of the fact that He has become human.  That is also why He can say "I am nothing without My Father", because without that Mighty-like part, he is just another man!  Over a firstborn: This is the ultimate in weeping. YaHuWSHuWaH is indeed called the “firstborn”. (Luke 2:7; Rom. 8:29; Col. 1:15, 18; Heb. 11:28; 12:23) And this is what is being described—the mass acceptance of YaHuWSHuWaH by the Jews in the Land, for He must be king over all of Ysra'al. (Can a Land be born in one day?) Interestingly, while it was the tribe of Yahuwdah that first crowned YaHuWSHuWaH’s ancestor David, Yahuwdah was the last tribe to accept him back after the rebellion of Abshalom, who is a picture of the Counterfeit Mashiyach. (2 Shmuel 2:4; 19:11)

12:11 In That Day there will be a great mourning in Yahrushalom, like the mourning of Hadad Rimmown in the valley of Megiddown.

12:12 The Land will mourn, every family by themselves; the family of the House of Dawiyd by themselves, and their wives by themselves; the family of the House of Nathan by themselves, and their wives by themselves;

12:13 the family of the House of Lewiy themselves, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites themselves, and their wives by themselves;

12:14 all the families who remain, every family by themselves, and their wives by themselves.

The House of Nathan: either the son of David through whom the Mashiyach came physically, or the prophet who brought David many messages.

Shim’i: a descendant of Gershon the Levite, whose name means “exile”, so he represents those “sons of the exiles” who will yet return to the Land “in That Day”. by themselves: This pattern corresponds with the command that “the descendants of Ysra'al shall pitch their tents, each with his own camp, and each with his own banner, according to their companies.” (Numbers 1:52)

13:1 “In That Day [verses 9-14 above] there will be a flow let loose for the House of Dawiyd and to the inhabitants of Yahrushalom in regard to sin and in regard to separation [at the time of ritual impurity].

Flow: used of a flow of blood in a woman in her monthly cycle or after childbirth, which is alluded to here, but also of a wellspring that gushes out when opened up. In the context of the preceding verses, it appears related to the piercing of YaHuWSHuWaH (12:10), after which blood and water flowed from His side (Yahuwchanan 19:34), for it relates to the purification of Ysra'al from her uncleanness. A woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years (representing all twelve tribes) was healed by her belief in the promise that YaHuWSHuWaH had healing in His wings. (Mat. 9:20) But the particular separation that this flow is to cover is that detailed in YashaYahuw 64:6-7ff, in which the standard of righteousness that Ysra'al choose for ourselves is described as like the clothing an ancient Hebrew woman wore in public when in her monthly period so that men would know not to touch her. We are saying in effect to YaHuWaH, our Husband, “Keep Your distance; I am not available to You.” YaHuWSHuWaH has made a way for us to be relieved of that sort of “righteousness”.

13:2 It will come to pass in That Day, says YaHuWaH Master of Armies, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they will be remembered no more. I will also cause the [false] prophets and the spirit of impurity to pass out of the land.

13:3 It will happen that, when anyone still prophesies [falsely], then his father and his mother who bore him will tell him, ‘You must die, because you speak lies in the Name of YaHuWaH;’ and his father and his mother who bore him will stab him [injure him] when he prophesies.

13:4 It will happen in That Day, that the false prophets will each be ashamed of his vision, when he prophesies; neither will they wear a hairy mantle to deceive:

13:5 but each will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the soil; because a man (Adam) taught me to acquire since my youth.’

Tiller of the soil: literally, man who serves the ground. The wording in Hebrew suggests an allusion to Qayin, since he was called a man from the day of his birth (Gen. 4:1), was a tiller of the soil, and killed his brother, a shepherd (v. 7), and the word “man” in the second phrase is Adam in Hebrew. The term for “acquire” here is qanah, the root word for Qayin’s name.

13:6 One will say to him (the false prophet), ‘What are these stripes between your hands?’ [or  "Why have you been beaten on your back?] Then he will answer, That's from when I was beaten in the house of my friends!"

Stripes between your hands: The verses 1 thru 6 take place in the Millennial Reign - a time when idol names and false prophets will not be tolerated - these verses illustrate what will happen to anyone who tries to lure Ysra'el into following after false Aluahiym's.

13:7 “Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, against the strong Man, Who is My Companion,” declares YaHuWaH Master of Armies. “Smite Aleph wTaw, and the sheep will be scattered;  and I will allow My Hand to come back over those that are brought low. (for protection)

against: for it was YaHuWaH’s will to bruise Him. (YashaYahuw 53:6, 10) Associate: companion, friend, fellow, suggesting a deep similarity. According to Mat. 26:31, this is a prophecy about YaHuWSHuWaH. Brought low: or made insignificant, those that have grown small. Not until Hebel was killed and Hawah conceived again does Scripture say Adam had a son in his likeness, allowing the process of repair of the scattered image of Aluahiym to begin. YaHuWSHuWaH clinched the victory, and we are to finish the mop-up.

13:8 It shall happen that in all the Land,” says YaHuWaH, “two parts in it will be cut off and die; but the third will be left in it.

13:9 I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on My Name, and I will hear them. I will say, ‘It is My people;’ and they will say, ‘YaHuWaH IS - my Aluahiym.’”

14:1 Behold, a Day of YaHuWaH comes, when your spoil will be divided in your midst.

14:2 For I will gather all nations against Yahrushalom to battle; and the city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go out into captivity, but the remnant of the people will not be cut off from the city.

Half of the city: possibly the Old City, which, as before 1967, is indeed cut off from the rest of the city by the deep valley of the sons of Hinnom and is where the Temple Mount—YaHuWaH’s most treasured property and therefore that which His enemies want--lies.

YirmeYahuw 1:15 "For, behold, I shall call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says YaHuWaH; “and they shall come, and they shall each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Yahrushalom, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Yahuwdah."

14:3 Then YaHuWaH will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.

From where will He go forth? From the Bridegroom’s canopy (Ps. 19:5), as YaHuWSHuWaH  (who embodies/is YaHuWaH’s feet, v. 4) completes the seven days in the chamber with His bride and comes with her to reconquer His rightful throne. When YaHuWaH went before Ysra'al to battle in the past, not a man was lost.

14:4 His feet will stand in That Day on the Mount of Olives, which is before Yahrushalom on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split open down the middle, from east to west, making a very great valley. Half of the mountain will move toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

He leads a united Ysra'al back into the Land together in a raid to rescue the remnant in the city and retake it as Yahuwshua did. When a present-day hotel was being built for tourists on the Mount of Olives, it had to be redesigned because a fault line was found running directly through the initially-planned site. Yahuw'El 2:32 It will happen that whosoever shall call on the Name of YaHuWaH shall be delivered (saved);  for in Mount Tsiyown and in Yahrushalom there shall be those who escape [are delivered], as YaHuWaH  has said, and in the remnant, those whom YaHuWaH shall call.

14:5 You shall flee by the valley of My mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Atsel; yes, you shall flee, just like you fled from before the earthquake in the days of UzziYahuw sovereign of Yahuwdah. YaHuWaH my Aluahiym will come, and all the Set-apart ones with You.

14:6 It will happen in that Day, that there will be no light. The lights will diminish.

14:7 And that will be one Day known to YaHuWaH; not day, and not night; but it will come to pass, that at evening time there will be light.

One day: an allusion to “day one” when YaHuWaH said “Let there come to be light”—a return to Genesis 1, for Eden will return to earth as this “city which is coupled together in unity” is manifested physically once again and the river that divides rather than merging (Gen. 2:10) will be reopened, a sign that the Kingdom has been realized “on earth as it is in Heaven:

14:8 It will happen in that Day, that living waters will go out from Yahrushalom; half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter will it be.

Living waters: an idiom for running water, and this is what is required for a ritual cleansing (such as the “flow” in 13:1). Literally, half toward the former sea and half toward the latter. Y’hezq’El  47 provides more detail about this event.

14:9 And YaHuWaH shall be Sovereign over all the earth. In that Day YaHuWaH will be the only One, and His Name One.

1 Cor. 15:28 When all things have been subjected to Him [the Anointed], then the Son will also Himself be subjected to Him [YaHuWaH] Who subjected all things to Him [the Anointed], that YaHuWaH may be All in All.

14:10 All the land will be changed into a desert plain, from Geba to Rimmown south of Yahrushalom; and she will be raised up, and inhabited in her place, from Binyamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the tower of Chanan'el to the sovereign’s winepresses.

14:11 Men will dwell therein, and there will be no more curse; but Yahrushalom will dwell safely.

14:12 This will be the plague with which YaHuWaH will strike all the peoples who have warred against Yahrushalom: their flesh will dissolve while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will dissolve in their sockets, and their tongue will dissolve in their mouth.

This is a complete decomposition within seconds with the structure left intact—a perfect description of the effects of a neutron bomb—a form of nuclear weapon. It rids the area of undesirables but does not destroy the city. Israel is indeed amassing such weapons now, and the evil nations were all brought together so YaHuWaH can destroy them all in one fell swoop (Ps. 92:7), and this is another reason those in the besieged city are allowed to escape. By fleeing to a much lower altitude, the radiation will go over their heads.

14:13 It will happen in that Day, that a great panic from YaHuWaH will be among them; and they will lay hold everyone on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand will rise up against the hand of his neighbor.

14:14 Yahuwdah also will fight at Yahrushalom; and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered together: gold, and silver, and clothing, in great abundance.

14:15 So will be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the donkey, and of all the animals that will be in those camps, as that plague.

14:16 It will happen that everyone who is left of all the heathen that came against Yahrushalom will go up from year to year to worship the Sovereign, YaHuWaH Master of Armies, and to keep the Festival of Booths.

14:17 It will be, that whoever of all the families of the earth doesn’t go up to Yahrushalom to worship the Sovereign, YaHuWaH Master of Armies, on them there will be no rain.

14:18 If the family of Mitsrayim doesn’t go up, and doesn’t come, neither will it rain on them. This will be the plague with which YaHuWaH will strike the nations that don’t go up to keep the Festival of Booths.

14:19 This will be the punishment of Mitsrayim, and the punishment of all the nations that don’t go up to keep the Festival of Booths.

14:20 In that day  “SET-APART TO YAHUWAH will be engraved on the bells of the horses ;” and the pots in YaHuWaH’s House will be as precious as the bowls before the altar. 14:21 Yes, every pot in Yahrushalom and in Yahuwdah will be set-apart to YaHuWaH Master of Armies; and all those who slaughter will come and take of them, and cook in them. In that day there will no longer be a merchant [Kena'aniy] in the House of YaHuWaH Master of Armies.
